Lease law
Adri specialises in lease law in the broadest sense. Even though he frequently deals with lease law for business premises, in his consultancy and litigation practice he focuses on the rental and letting of residential premises. He represents both housing associations and lessors of commercial property.
It is important to Adri to take a constructive approach to his clients’ problems and to provide a full-service solution. Even though he predominantly has a litigation practice, he submits comprehensive, clear-cut and especially practical advice from that perspective.
Education & career
Adri studied Law at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. During his studies, he worked there as a teacher and mentor, among other jobs. After his graduation, Adri started a job as a lease lawyer at a boutique firm in Amsterdam, which is where he grew attached to lease law. Adri continues his passion at Law&Pepper Advocaten since May 2022.
Specialisation
In June 2024, Adri graduated cum laude from the specialist course of the Dutch Association of Landlord and Tenant Law Practitioners (VHA). He has been a member of this specialist association ever since.
Deputy member of the Complaints Committee for Housing Associations
Adri has been appointed deputy member of the Complaints Committee for Housing Associations for the Utrecht region (Klachtencommissie Woningcorporaties Regio Utrecht (KWRU)) as from 1 May 2025. This is an independent complaints committee for the tenants of 13 housing associations in the Utrecht region. The KWRU deals with complaints of tenants who are not satisfied with how their complaint is handled by their landlord. The KWRU is also engaged by the Housing Allocation Foundation for the Utrecht region (Stichting Woonruimteverdeling Regio Utrecht (SWRU)) to deal with complaints about housing allocation.
Publishing & teaching
Adri frequently publishes contributions about lease law on our website and on his LinkedIn page. In addition, he regularly teaches courses on lease law, for example at the VU Law Academy.
Register of practice areas
In the register of practice areas of the Netherlands Bar Association, Adri has registered the practice area of lease law (residential premises and business premises). To maintain this registration, according to the standards of the Netherlands Bar Association he must obtain ten training points in that practice area every calendar year.
